are dozens of restaurants in Huaraz. For those whose stomachs
have already adapted to local food check out the market for
variety and excellent value, from 06.00 to 18.00 upstairs. There
are many restaurants in the streets near the market offering
great value.
Brasa
Roja on Luzuriaga 2 blocks south of the Plaza de Armas.
Deservedly one of the most popular restaurants in Huaraz, with
locals and tourists alike. Basically chicken and chips, but of
good quality and with plenty of other options.

Pizzeria Luzuriaga 672 upstairs. Variety of excellent veggie
dishes and pizzas.
El
Encuentro on the corner of Gamara and 28 de Julio. Good quality,
friendly, fun place.
Chifa
Min Hua Av Luzuriaga 424b. Great Chinese food, cheap and lavish
helpings.
Sala
de Kushuru Simón Bolívar 926. For real local specialities such
as kushuru (algaes), ceviche de chocho (lupin seeds) and cuy
(guinea pig).
There
are several tourist restaurants if you feel like some more
upmarket food.
Bistro
de Los Andes Julian de Morales 823. Excellent vegetable
stir-fry, also steaks and pastas, one of the less expensive and
very tasty, tourist places.
Siam
de Los Andes Corner of Jr Julian de Morales & Av Gamarra. A
new Thai restaurant operated by climber/cook Naresuan. Great
food but not cheap.
Crêperie
Patrick Av Luzuriaga 424. French cuisine, good crêpes and
desserts. Moderate to expensive prices.
Monta
Rosa Av La Mar, block 6. A good pizzeria, moderate to expensive
prices. Great coffee, and also has a small mountaineering shop.
Casa
de Guías Parque Ginebra. Good muesli, yoghurt, pizzas, soups
and salads. Moderate prices. Open for breakfast and dinner.
Campo
Base Av Luzuriaga 407 Good gringo food, reasonable price.
